Biography

John Obed Schamma Fenelon was born in 1985 in the village of Jean Rabel, in the neighborhood of Boucan Patriot, in a family of eleven siblings. He is the sixth-born child and grew up in a Christian home.

John has served in various positions in his life, from an entrepreneur, teacher, lawyer, and gospel minister. Besides being a founding director to several organizations whose benefits to the township and more, he was the Pastor/Chaplain. He is the Founding Director of ETEC Schamma Technic Center and responsible for coordinating over 24 various education and training options to Haitians and foreign students. The vocational school was then established in 2008.

In 2022, he expanded his presence in the education sector by opening a K12 institution, IMEG Institution Mixte Schamma des Gonaives, Haiti. Moreover, John participates in philanthropic endeavors via Orphelinat les Fenelon des Gonaives, Haiti and El Schamma International Foundation, establishments that support marginalized adolescents and families in Haiti and beyond. John has worked as an educator for more than 12 years, during which time he was employed in both public and private school systems. John’s greatest passion is to provide the youngest, most underprivileged children hope and chances. He is also interested in youth empowerment and family rehabilitation. Therefore, John’s community service involvement includes juvenile detention centers, youth transition homes, and foster care services. He has a profound passion for fatherless youth and is dedicated to serving in the capacity of father and mentor to those in need.

John believes deeply in education and biblical principles; he tries with all his might to bring a holistic and values-based approach to work. In the professional sphere, he is a graduate of the faculty of law at UEH Université d’états d’Haiti where his great interest in the advocacy of children rights grew fond of his goal to have children recognize as individuals with human rights. And has pursued further studies in theology and early childhood education.

John’s interests are music, travel, and reading. He is married to Natasha Augustin Fenelon. Together, they continue to change lives and communities by the power of dedication to service and education.
